THE BRITISH PM IS A LAUGHING STOCK ABROAD - AND HE CONTINUES HIS MURDEROUS ACTIONS IN THIS COUNTRY

Foreign governments find it hard to get their heads around how such a man as Boris Johnson could ever have become the leader of the Conservative Party and so the Prime Minister of Britain. He was after all no more than a journalist with a posh background who had a reputation as a chancer and a liar. His editor at the Daily Telegraph sacked him for lying. His actions in office have hardly improved their opinion of him. Lying to the British public got him over the Brexit line, and he is still lying and deceiving to blindside the British people about the downsides of Brexit - all predicted at the time and dismissed as 'Project Fear'. They wait with interest to see how long it will take for the Brits to see through him and his carefully calculated masks.

My interest today is in examining more closely the consequences of his mad and murderous actions here in the UK as we suffer the twist of fate that has left this man as the British PM during a viral pandemic.

First a reminder of a blogpost I published in May last year, around fifteen months ago. I picked this one at random - my first digital finger in a pie that contains scores of my excoriating exposures of this murderous man who misleads this country. Press here for some SKWAWKBOX informed anger.

How little has changed in this period of over a year.

Yesterday, the Daily Mirror Online carried this title:

UK COVID DEATHS RISE BY 100 AS INFECTIONS PASS 38,000 FOR SECOND DAY IN A ROW

Underneath, the report continued:

All four home nations have seen an increase in cases in the week to August 20, according to the ONS infection survey, amid fears England could see a big surge when schools return.

What's more, this is getting personal. My local paper carried this headline yesterday:

COVID RATES NOW THE HIGHEST IN ENGLAND

The sentence below stated that Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now have the highest rate of Covid-19 cases in England.

Why? There was a spike in infections after the G7 summit meeting in Carbis Bay, a few miles from where we live - and then thousands were infected at Boardmasters, a surfing festival in Newquay, a couple of weeks ago - and there are hundreds of thousands of tourists entering this county for their

OVER 115,000 MEMBERS HAVE LEFT THE LABOUR PARTY - BUT SOME OF THOSE WHO REMAIN ARE GETTING THEIR ACT TOGETHER

I left in the last month. No regrets. It is, though, interesting to see this move by those who remain. You will find a useful list of Tory acts of misgovernment here, too.

Breaking: trade unions and Labour member groups unite in call for party democracy and radical policies

Left unions and an array of member groups demand action to reclaim party and transform UK

Trade union and Labour Party member organisations have today united around a call for party democracy and transformative socialist policies, with a launch statement condemning Labour’s failure to mobilise a fightback against the “most right-wing government in living memory”.

A one-day event on Saturday 18 September will be the first in a planned series and will give voice to all sectors of the Labour left, building unity and organising around goals that serve working people from all communities.

The Labour leadership must abandon its destructive attacks on left-wing members and its proscriptions targeting left-wing groups – and focus instead on mobilising in opposition to

JOHNSON, THE SERIAL LIAR, AND HIS MINISTERS CONTINUE TO MISLEAD - AND STARMER IS STILL A FAILURE

SKWAWKBOX continues to inform those who are open to truth. Here are a couple of this week's highlights:

Trickett takes Tories to task for claiming units in existing hospitals are ‘new’ hospitals

’48 new hospitals’ has always been a scam – but backbench MPs are having to do the job of the Opposition in calling it out

Trickett and Javid

Back-bench Labour MP Jon Trickett has long been one of the pillars of opposition to the Tories in the absence of any functioning leadership or opposition from his party’s notional leader. And it was again Trickett who was first out of the blocks when the Tories tried to claim that they had opened a ‘new cancer hospital’ in Cumbria yesterday.

Trickett was quick to point out that the ‘new hospital’ is no such thing. Instead, it’s a unit inside an existing hospital, one that was announced in 2017, long before Johnson became Tory leader:

And he followed up again later today, taking on Javid directly over his dishonest claim and

CLEMENT ATTLEE - AND THE NUCLEAR BOMBING OF HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI 76 YEARS AGO THIS MONTH

Reasons for the human species to be concerned:

  • We are facing global extinction as a result of man-made climate warming
  • We are battling against a coronavirus pandemic across our planet - and most of the world appears to be losing
  • We have lived for 76 years in the shadow of nuclear war that would lead to the end of civilization and the destruction of most human populations

The nuclear explosion over Nagasaki on 9 August 1945

Reasons to be cheerful:

  • where there's life, there's hope
I am reading two biographies of Clement Attlee at the moment: 'Attlee - A Life in Politics' by Nicklaus Thomas-Symonds (2010) and 'Clement Attlee' by Michael Jago (2014). The former is more scholarly but Jago's work has some passages that catch the eye. Here is Jago's fascinating account of how Clement

MY CONSISTENT MESSAGE - LIVING WITH THIS VIRUS SHOULD NOT BE THE CHOSEN PATH

I wrote to friends this week repeating my mantra about this pandemic. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde ('Conformity is the last refuge of the unimaginative'), if consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative than I am truly dull. Here is the evidence of my commitment to repeating the same message:

To my friends:  'All around are repeating the official mantra that this virus is one we just have to live with now. I don’t share that view and tell anyone who is listening that I want to see a zero Covid strategy put in place over say a four month period. There are scientists out there who tell me and others that if there was the political will that could be done. It won’t happen. However, a more deadly mutation somewhere in a world that is not being vaccinated adequately will be highly likely to occur. And then we are back to square one. I am still super-cautious despite our vaccination status; I haven’t set foot in town past the surgery since March of last year. The car that was acquired just before lockdown has just over 3,000 miles on the clock to date, almost exclusively for weekly trips to Penzance for grocery top-ups  and dog supplies to supplement the weekly home delivery of shopping.'

And so we are where we are, as they say these days. Exactly where that is may seem a little confusing at times. The media seem to be subject to nudges from that special unit at 10 Downing Street which is focused on bringing the people into an acceptance of government policies, however contrary they may

THE MERITS OF BEING ORDINARY AND DECENT

SKWAWKBOX on Tuesday, a couple of days ago, posted this piece in praise of Jeremy Corbyn. I think that most of you reading this blogpost today will already have a high opinion of the former leader of the Labour Party so for you this will be further confirmation for your well-placed trust. If any reader happens to be hostile to the great JC, read on, keep an open mind - and then think about what there is not to like about this man and his ideas. Have you got a better vision for a way out of the room marked 'Global Extinction'?

‘Ordinary Corbyn’ is still leader of the opposition – former LOTO staffer writes

by SKWAWKBOX (SW)

"Jeremy Corbyn and the extraordinary power of ordinariness "

Jeremy Corbyn with former 'LOTO' team member Phil Bevin

Jeremy Corbyn is still the UK's opposition leader, says former staffer Phil Bevin, under the subtitle 'Jeremy Corbyn and the extraordinary power of ordinariness':

Jeremy Corbyn is still the “leader” of opposition politics in the UK. As Skwawkbox has reported before, his influence and popularity has endured through six years of establishment smear campaign and has remained strong since he stood down as the official Leader of the Opposition in 2019. Sir Keir Starmer would surely love to know how he’s done it. Unfortunately for Sir Keir, Corbyn’s ongoing influence is

REASONS FOR LEAVING THE LABOUR PARTY WHEN ITS LEADER IS STARMER

Richard Hill was the chair of the constituency Labour Party (CLP) in Colchester, Essex until yesterday. Then he resigned. He had had enough. Courtesy of a SKWAWBOX post, here is the story:

Chair of Colchester CLP, recent candidate, quits post and party – and writes to ’empty’ Starmer to tell him why he’s to blame

by SKWAWKBOX (SW)

The email sent by resigning party chair and recent Labour candidate Richard Hill to Labour 'leader' Keir Starmer is powerful, eloquent and pulls no punches - and it will ring true with thousands of disgusted current and former Labour members. It is reposted without further comment, except some added emphases, below.

From: Richard Hill
Date: Sat, 7 Aug 2021 at 17:07
Subject: Resignation from the Labour Party
To: <keir.starmer.mp@parliament.uk>

Dear Keir,

I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as Chair of Colchester constituency Labour Party and as a member of the Labour party. As one of over 100,000 people to leave under your tenure I doubt my decision will give you pause for thought but I write anyway as after donating thousands of hours of my

IT'S THAT JEREMIAH TIME AGAIN - BETTER I TOLD YOU SO THAN NEVER KNOWING

If you're reading this, you are likely to have also read some at least of my previous accounts of the UK's deadly mishandling of this war on the coronavirus. Press here for the first of such blogposts that referenced my role as a contemporary prophet, a Jeremiah Mark2.

A Hebrew prophet imagined - perhaps Jeremiah

Reading yesterday's 'i' newspaper prompted me to compose this blogpost. The 'i''s science correspondent, Tom Bawden, had three articles printed in the newspaper - and their content rings the alarm bells for me.

On p.10, Bawden's piece carries the headline: 'UK 'at increased risk' of vaccine-resistant variant developing' and it references the work of researchers at the Institute of Science in Austria who are claiming that the lifting of all lockdown restrictions, including the use of face masks and social distancing, on so-called 'Freedom Day' on 19 July has put the UK at an "elevated risk" of a new variant. The Austrian researchers further point out that other measures to help curb transmissions and jab-evading variants should include:

  • increased and widespread testing;
  • rigorous contact tracing;
  • high rates of medical sequencing to obtain genetic information;
  • and travel restrictions

Thanks to theguardian.com for this timely cartoon reminder that Freedom Day is increasingly looking like an only too predictable sick joke

Well, the performance of the UK misgovernment in testing and tracing, and travel restrictions has been lamentable and directly contributed to our death toll of 152,000 and more. The Austrian study found that
