Here are three Skwarkbox stories that appeared on my screen this afternoon - Wednesday 18 March 2020:
RISE IN CONFIRMED CASES SURGES DESPITE LACK OF TESTING
Testing for Covid 19 - the World Health Organisation says this is vital; our government is failing us. |
The UK has seen confirmed coronavirus cases surge by 676 in the last 24 hours. Given the government's continued failure to test suspected cases that are not admitted to hospital, the real number of new cases will be many times
higher.
This is clear evidence that the Tories' reluctance to act, show real leadership - for example recommending people stay away from pubs and restaurants without ordering closure, preventing businesses claiming on their insurance - or even follow the World Health Organisation's basic recommendations, is causing numbers to accelerate dramatically.
As symptoms can take days to appear, expect this surge to continue for at least a week after any proper lock-down eventually takes place.
Perhaps this one below is a joke. I fear not. Could Skwarkbox have got it wrong? I doubt it.
THE TORIES ARE PRESSING AHEAD WITH HOSPITAL CLOSURES DURING THIS PANDEMIC
Poole A&E is due to shut - the plans appear to be going ahead. |
A Tory programme of closures of hospitals and walk-in centres is proceeding amid the coronavirus pandemic. The following facilities are affected:
- Orsett Hospital
- Shipley Hospital
- Eastbourne Walk-In Centre
- Poole A&E
- Sittingbourne Dementia Unit
- Angel Medical Centre
- Cricklewood Walk-In
- Soho Walk-In
- Swindon Walk-In
The closures are scheduled to take place within the 12-18 month window predicted for the coronavirus crisis. At the same time, the Tories have announced emergency measures to free up NHS beds, because they acknowledge there will not be shortages at the peak of the pandemic.
The Conservatives have already closed more than 17,000 beds - 6.2 million annual bed days - since 2010, fuelling the NHS crisis that has become a constant feature of the UK's health service.
THE UK DEATH TOLL CONTINUES TO RISE AS JOHNSON DITHERS ON SCHOOL CLOSURES
This is pandemic - we need a government worthy of the name |
34 people have died in the UK in the last 24 hours as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The daily trajectory is steepening:

Astonishingly, in spite of the increasing devastation, Johnson is still trying to justify his slowness in closing schools - still only partial even after today's announcement - by saying that schools are safe because children are less severely affected by the virus.
As if they cannot pick it up at school and pass it on at home to more vulnerable relatives and neighbours.
Johnson's dithering, his resistance to implementing WHO recommendations and his focus on protecting wealth are lethal - and his claims to be 'doing the right thing at the right time' are a sick joke.

IT'S AN EXCELLENT WAY OF ACCESSING FACTS THAT DON'T MAKE IT TO THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA (MSM) FOR REASONS THAT MAY NOW BE COMING CLEARER.
SKWARKBOX is great - our current Prime Minister! I am beginning to think that there was a remedial class at Eton for slow learners and he somehow conned his way into Oxford - how else can one explain such a lack of ... the list is too long ..
